The Regional Development Council – Region 1 (RDC-1) directed its Development Communication Support Committee (DevCom SuCom) to coordinate the implementation of the communication plan (ComPlan) of the enhanced Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2017-2022. The Council issued Resolution No. 88, s. 2020, during its 4th quarter meeting last November 25, 2020 to approve the ComPlan and specify the work of the committee in the implementation of the plan starting first quarter of 2021.
The DevCom SuCom spearheaded the formulation of the ComPlan through online platforms. The process was made participatory as the virtual workshop conducted last October 27, 2020 was participated by media practitioners, representatives and secretariat of RDC-1 sectoral committees and local government units in the region. An online survey was also conducted to gather information on the preferred and effective communication channels of target audiences.
The ComPlan contains communication issues and corresponding communication objectives. It outlines the strategies and activities across various communication channels to advocate the RDP, and inform the public on the new programs of the government in the new normal, specifically the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Program and Regional Recovery Program (RRP). Communication strategies were also included in the plan to encourage stakeholders to actively support and participate in the implementation of the RDP. The ComPlan also specifies activities to promote the accomplishments and gains resulting from the implementation of the development plan.
The RDC-1 also ordered the DevCom SuCom to coordinate the monitoring and assessment of the implementation of the ComPlan including its identified activities. Likewise, the Council requested the media practitioners, associations of information officers, national and local government officials, and members of other RDC-1 committees to participate in the implementation and monitoring of the plan. #YehlenYangat
